Current status (October 2026): Phase II applications CLOSED on October 4, 2026. Watch official Punjab government announcements for the next phase.
What Is the Scheme?
The CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme provides electric bikes to students and workers on easy installments with heavy government subsidy. On September 2, 2026, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved its largest expansion so far — Phase II with 125,000+ electric bikes — and made the terms significantly more affordable than earlier phases.
It runs in partnership with the Bank of Punjab (financing, verification, installment collection), PITB (online portal and computerized e-ballot), and the Punjab Transport Department (delivery through authorized dealers).
Phase II at a Glance
- Bikes: 125,000+ electric bikes
- Total bike cost: Rs199,000
- Government subsidy: Rs90,000 per bike
- Down payment: none (earlier phases required ~Rs14,000 — now scrapped)
- Monthly installment: Rs3,028 × 36 months = Rs109,000 total
- Markup/interest: 0% for the applicant — paid by the Punjab government
- Insurance: paid by the Punjab government
- Battery: lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4)
- Extras: free helmet, safety rod, and optional free two-day riding training
Who Could Apply?
Phase II expanded beyond students for the first time. Students remained the core group, with government employees, government departments, and delivery riders joining in stages. Each category’s balloting and timelines were announced through the official portal.
How Applications Worked
- Applications were submitted online at bikes.punjab.gov.pk (September 4 – October 4, 2026).
- Selection through a computerized e-ballot managed with PITB for transparency.
- Verification and financing through the Bank of Punjab; delivery through authorized dealers with the Transport Department’s oversight.
Installment Example
For a bike costing Rs199,000: the government covers Rs90,000 as subsidy and pays the interest and insurance. The applicant repays only Rs109,000 — Rs3,028 per month for 3 years — with zero down payment.
Important Rules
- No extra charges: the CM rejected all additional fees. Pay nothing beyond the monthly installment.
- No sale during the loan period: the bike stays under bank financing until fully repaid.
- No agents: apply only through the official portal when a phase is open.
What’s Next?
With Phase II closed, the next expansion will be announced by the Punjab government. Keep your documents (CNIC, student/employment proof) ready and monitor official channels — do not trust unofficial “agent” lists.
